Hands in the cold storage face triple threats
A cold storage facility is not as simple as “just lowering the temperature of an ordinary warehouse by a few degrees.” Depending on the temperature zones, it is typically divided into three categories: refrigeration (0~4°C), freezing (-18°C), and deep freezing (-25°C and below), each posing challenges to human hands
Cold injury: Prolonged exposure below -18°C causes rapid contraction of hand blood vessels, significantly reducing dexterity and grip strength, thereby increasing the risk of frostbite. When cold, people instinctively “lose their grip,” making them more prone to dropping cargo.
Cuts and punctures: Twine film knives, carton sealing nails, metal shelf edges, as well as frozen and hard foods and bone edges, are all sharper than at room temperature.
Slippery and Slippery: High humidity in cold storage, frost and ice buildup on surfaces, and widespread condensation. Once ordinary cotton gloves get wet, they not only lose grip but also become harder to dry and more icy.
